hey im looking to replace the stock tuners. they always come loose and are not that great. has anyone had experience changing them? im looking to replace them w/ hipshots, the ones that would normally fit mucicman/G&L basses...i would have them professionally installed but was seeing if anyone has experience doing this mod?

Thanks!

Describe loose. As in the fitment to the head stock or the gears? Maybe we can save you money.

I have mine in my '08 and they have been nothing short of a pleasure.

I put Fender 75 reissue tuners on mine. Simple mod, and waaaay better than the awful stock tuners. Gotoh 60s reissue tuners work great too.

nice, they 70's reiisue fit well? the problem is the tuning peg is loose and can easily be dropped out of tune. even if i put my bass against a wall/cab and the vibrations of a room can make it come loose. thinking my e string is tuned andhaving it slide down to c# with no movement of mine is quite interesting

That sounds extreme. You can tighten them with allen keys. Mine never comes loose. You may save some weight with hipshots tho, but not sure if they're worth 100 bucks.

the new keys are very nice, lighter than the older ones (very important to stop neck dive), and easily tightened up with the little set screw.

are you putting the strings on right?
