Resonance? Ringing?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a Fender American Jazz bass from about 1997. When I play an E on the G string (ninth fret) and then mute the string right afterward, I hear a ringing sound coming from the other strings until I mute them. The same thing happens on the D and A strings at the same fret. What's the deal? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thumbs up Resonance? Ringing?

What you are hearing is normal string vibration, you will either get used to it, or your technique will change over time and you will learn palm muting!

BTW, you have a great bass if the sustain is that awesome!

Cool! I've grown used to it and adapted my technique to deal with it; I was just wondering if it was normal. Thanks for the help.
