Restoring an old friend

I own this bass for a quite a long time. It has been modified many times over the years.

It's a 78 body which had the neck replaced for a 78 J. The Electronics were replaced for a MM preamp and pickups so the body got routed. Later I replaced the J neck for an ESP which I never liked. Eventually the preamp got changed for something I can't remember. For the last 15 years I haven't playing with it.

But recently I decided to get it back in playing condition, replaced the electronics, got a new pickguard, a 97 Jazz Bass neck and some old tuners I had around.
The bass sounds very good and It's a breeze to play with it.
Of course I had to cover the PU routing with something so I put a decal. It's my surf music band.

I'm glad I did it.

It definitely does the instrument justice but maybe you should look into repairing the unused pickup routings and re-finishing the body.

Looks awesome for what it could have looked like if not done so well...I tend to agree that it would be better if pick-up route was repaired and refinished

You could always cut the pickguard and throw an MM pup in there again instead of a sticker.
