Restringing Corvette for first time

As some of you may know, I'm new to playing the bass but not new to stringed instruments. When restringing my guitars (6 string) I would take one off at a time and restring that string before going to the next. This worked best for my guitars and I never had a problem with the neck getting whacked out. I have a new Corvette 4 string active, Bubinga, and just want to make sure the proper way to restring. I hear some people saying they take all their strings off at once which I would think would tweak the neck a bit. Is it correct to maybe start with the E string and do one at a time? Also, should I run the string all the way through the peg so it is taught, then wind or should I give about a 6 inch slack for room to wind? Sorry to be an idiot but I want to do it right. Thanks for the help.

i always take them off one at a time, no matter what kind of bass or guitar i am doing.

i usually loosen it to were it's limp, the cut and restring.

the only time i taker them all off is if i am doing a top to bottom cleaning and set up. and even then am i careful to loosen them all up evenly.
