Reviving my OLP 5er

Sign in to disble this ad
I have an old OLP MM3 that's been sitting unstrung in my room for about a year, due to a tuner break and me being too lazy to fix it. However, when I built my bass, I stripped the OLP for alot of parts and now it is incomplete.

I plan to spend a couple weeks reading and gathering good parts, then having a working, playing 5er, which is something I don't have right now.

What I need:
Tuners: preferably black, Fender/Musicman-style 4+1 orientation with ferrules.
String retainer: round, center-screw type, preferably black.
Nut: Where (other than a luthier) can I buy a nut that will fit?

The bass has a matching black headstock and a black bridge/knobs, which is why I'm going for black hardware. If you can throw up some suggestions on specific brands and parts to help this reincarnation, it would be appreciated!!

Thanks,
Brendan

I would also like to know about the nut.

Bass Parts Resource should carry all of the above, and they're based in Ohio.

The nut may require some filing anyway, but there's not much that can be done about that - it's the nature of a nut.

If sitting unstrung for a year, I'd be concerned about neck backbow 'if' you didn't think to take the tension off of the truss rodd while sitting unstrung.

Could be ok... could be not...
