There is enough misinformation in that link to start a book of brand new guitar repair myths.
- T-handle truss rod wrenchs allow the user to see how much the truss rod nut has been turned. Recommended.
- Guitars get clamped to the bench for some procedures. A set up is not one of them.
- Adjusting a truss rod cannot "pop off" a fingerboard. Unless it was glued with rubber cement.

Setting up a Rickenbacker is just like setting up any other bass. It is true that two truss rods does complicate the work a bit. But it also allows for precise adjustments to both sides of the neck. It is just a little bit more back and forth between the truss rods.
