Rickenbacker 4003 pickup cover-frame problem.

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi guys. Bought myself a new Ric 4003 the other day. Always wanted one, found a great deal and bought one in Midnight blue. So.... I took the bridge pickup cover off which was a pain in and of itself. When I play with either fingers or a pick, my hand naturally lays right over that bridge pickup. The cover got in the way when it was on, and now with it off, the huge pickup frame gets in the way when I pick, and when I use my fingers they go deep inside that empty area around the pickup and bump on a semi-sharp edge on the inside of the frame. I tried playing on either side of this huge pickup frame but it feels awkward, I need to play right there.

Is there any kind of replacement, upgrade, accessory, something I can do to eliminate this huge frame? Any ideas? Thanks.

I had a pickguardian on my Ric and I had the silver one, but Ive seen others that were white and they look alot better. The silver one looked a little cheesy.

If you don't want to alter the appearance of the ric, you might get used to it with time. I had the same experience, and now I play it comfortably. I prefer the big gaping hole over the pickguardian replacement.

Where does one find the Pickgaurdian combo? I have been searching music sellers websites but can't seem to find it. Thanks
