Rickenbacker 4003 Saddle Buzzing

Sign in to disble this ad
Just changed strings on my bass and now whenever I play an open E, there's a buzz from the saddle. I can put my finger on top of the saddle and the buzzing stops. Anyone know how to remedy this?

No I will not buy a hipshot bridge.

Bass needs a set up. If there is something wrong with the bridge, all those parts are available over at the Ric site.

I'm using Joey's Bass Notes as a guide, but he doesn't mention anything about it. Whenever I pluck the open E string aggressively it buzzes.

Have you pushed down on the string in front of the saddle, so there's a "witness point", where it breaks over the saddle?

How much string break is there, behind the saddle?

Could you explain a little more? I see no real difference in string break between the E and the rest of the strings.

Thank you for your willingness to help. Today I removed the bridge and tightened a few screws, problem solved.

Don't hate me for not checking the obvious sooner.
