Rickenbacker driving me nuts

Sign in to disble this ad
So, i love the way my rickenbacker sounds, except for the E string. It just sounds completely dull, lifeless, punchless and not even sounding with the rest of the strings. I have tried several different sets of strings to no avail. I have tried having no relief, lots of relief and everything in between. Intonation is spot on. Weight on the headstock didnt help. Does anyone have any other options for what i can do, because its driving me nuts. There is some bridge lift, but i dont want to spend $120 on a hipshot, just to have it not work. Great bass, bad E.

That's been a reported problem before with Rick basses. I never had that problem with mine but this thread from the RIC forum has some good advice.
