Rickenbacker pickup cover lopsided

Sign in to disble this ad
Ive recently put the cover of the treble pickup back onto my 4003, for some reason whenever I try to raise the height of the cover one side refuses to move so in effect I've ended up with on side higher up than the other.
I tried raising the faulty side up first but then when I went to raise the other side the screw on the faulty side went back down.
Ive disassembled it to see what the cause was but I cant seem to find what the problem is...

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I just put the horseshoe back on my rick as well. One problem may be, you could have put the spring ontop of the cover as opposed to under it, as it should be. From bottom to top it should be: Pickup, spring, cover, then the cavity casing (the chrome thing that pretty much lines the cavity, then the screw. i have realized that it is best to asseble this cluster outside the bass, then reattaching it as a whole.
Another possible problem is, that the screw might not be fully inside the screw hole on the pickup.
other than that all i could suggest is taking it to a shop and having them look at it. maybe you need new springs.
hope that helped.

the hole of the cover could be caught on the thredding of the screw. you should check that out as well.
