rosewood fingerboard maintenance

I have a jazz bass with rosewood fingerboard.

I have heard that you need to apply some sort of oil or something to the fingerboard every 6 months or a year

can anyone let us know whats the go with looking after rosewood fingerboards?

twice a year is plenty...

i use dunlop 65...but any guitar lemon oil will work.

I use it on ebony, too

whats the point of that? does it do anything for your tone or does it just preserve your board?
