Saddle adjustment help

I need to lower the action on my MIM Jazz. Is it okay to drop the saddle height while the strings are under tension, or is it best to detune first?

I do it while the strings are in tune.

Shouldn't be a problem when decreasing tension (lowering saddles, flattening intonation). When raising saddles, intonating a string more sharply or tightening a truss rod, loosen the strings.
