Saving a body

Sign in to disble this ad
I had a squire P bass sitting around and thought I'd have a go at removing the poly finnish.
That was a mistake.I found out why Squires are so cheap. The body is made up of severail pieces of wood with a THIN laminate over the sections.I sanded right through the laminate in severail places. It looked like ca-ca.
I thought about doing a collage or something along those lines to save it.Beer labels maybe?Na,too tacky.
I went to a local craft shop and found Gold leaf on sale for 4 bucks a pack.
I'll post picture very soon.

Didn't turn out too bad.
My wife said that it looked like something Elvis would of had.

Not bad at all, I've thought about gold leafing a bass as well.

However, I would recommend putting a clear coat over it. Gold leaf is quite fragile.
