Schaller or Hipshot

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all.
Ok I just want some experienced opinions here on tuning machine replacements for my bass.

Schaller BMFL
or
Hipshot HB-2.

The Schallers are about $79 for a set.
The Hipshots are about $26 each.

These will be going onto my E-serial Fender. The tuning machines on it now are so sloppy it is ridiculous.

If anyone has any practical experience with either of the above or both let me know which is the better.
As for me, I kinda like cheap, but not too cheap if you know what I mean.

1st if your not going to leave original pegs on then of course keep them for next person who may get the bass/neck. Now for the question at hand, I would say put on the Schallers because of the fact that alot of the older necks/basses came with Schallers made for Fender. That is the more direct replacemment parts and are made VERY well.
Hey it's only $50 extra, but also why not.

My info was wrong. The Hipshots are priced @each! So Schallers will be the one probably.
And I always keep my parts.

I bought Hipshot lollipop tuners for the bass I just built. I have a MIJ Fender P and a J, the Hipshots are MUCH better tuners than the stock Fender ones.

Here's an Ebay link-not too expensive IMO.

New Hipshot HB2 tuners for FENDER bass LOLLIPOP KEYS | eBay

Look around on the 'bay, they have standard shaped tuners for the same price.

Hipshot makes really awesome products. Their tuners are top notch. I've got them on a few of my basses now. No complaints at all.

Schaller are vintage through and through. Hipshot are modern engineering. Both are great. Your preference.
