Scratch in finish

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a chance to purchase a used Sunburst Epiphone Thunderbird for $375 CDN but there's a scratch in the finish on the top of the body near the strap button position.

Does anyone know how easy this could be to fix? Its in such a bad spot that it would be staring me in the face everytime I look at it and I can't subject myself to that and if its too expensive to repair I'll shell out the extra $50 and get a brand new one.

Nobody can tell you how easy or expensive it will be to fix, just from hearing that it's on the top of body near the strap button.

I'd guess an Epiphone probably has a polymerized finish, so a "perfect" repair is not possible. It can probably be filled with superglue or nail polish, but it is not going to blend in perfectly.

If you're going to obsess over one scratch, you should probably buy a new one so you can put the first scratch in yourself.

Hope this helps.

Every scratch or dent has a story behind it. Just make a cool one up and tell people. Say you used it to fight off zombies.

Haha I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to keeping my instruments looking in pristine shape so no one would buy it. I actually keep an old Yamaha RBX360 for a beater.
