I was taking the screws out of this cheapo bass I aquired was less than pleasent. I can only imaging putting them in will be awful. So what is the best/cheapest screw lube that works for wood and steel? |

Soap absorbs water, which could lead to corrosion, so I won't risk using it.

Something about being water-soluble, maybe thinning and spreading into the wood. No science to my thoughts, but somehow wax, not being water-soluble feels like it might be a better way to go. |

I'm a bike mechanic for a living, so whenever I rebuild a bridge or tuners on a bass, I oil every contact point with either TRI FLOW or GRAPHITE. It's never a bad idea, as far as I'm concerned, to put something on those moving parts so that they work when you need them to. And no, it hasn't caused me any problems.
