Screws on Tuning Machines

I am having some trouble keeping my G string in tune. If the screw holding the main gear of the tuning machine seems a bit loose, might tightening it help?

Is it strung correctly according to the info on the stickies? If the screw is loose, no problem snugging it - but don't twist hard.
