Sealed Tuner parts: Need to find some

Sign in to disble this ad
Just picked up a bass off of CL today and 2 of the tuners are missing bushings and/or washers between the tuner ear and body.
Right here:

Is there a source for these that I may find locally? I'm pretty sure GC will have ABSOLUTELY no idea what I'm looking for. Or if a kindly fellow TBer has some, I'd pay for the postage stamp But basically, if the hardware store has a fix, I'd just as soon do that.

Take the tuner down to the screw section of a hardware store and see if you can find a plastic washer or spacer that will be a close fit.

IIRC, some of the Gotoh-esque tuners have 3 components...a white nylon washer, aluminum spacer, and split O ring. Please check your intact tuners for details. You can makes some substitutions depending on what is and what isn't available. My MIC Ping tuners, for example, have just a nylon washer and O ring. A trip to your local Lowe's is in order.

Edit: wife is sending me out to do some chores. I have the remnants of a Gotoh tuner in my pocket and will drop by Lowe's for sizing. I've been wanting to do this for some time as your issue is quite common.
