Sorry if this in the wrong forum.

I want a fretless bass and my first bass, a Squier Affinity J-Bass, is just sitting in the corner. I was wondering if I should sell it and buy a Vintage Modified Jazz Bass Fretless.

Or

Pick up a Mighty Mite P-Bass Replacement Neck with a Fretless Ebonol Fingerboard and Fender Custom Shop '60s J Bass Pickup.

I know I will have to make some adjustments to the neck pocket if I get the mighty mite. I was wondering what would give me the best sound for the money.

I think it would certainly be less money and time, to just sell what you have and buy the other. Then you know the work is done correctly, and if you don't like you can take it back or sell it...

that is NOT a luthier corner answer!!! lol!
this is....
rip out the frets yourself voila!
one solid evening, not including any finishing you might do to the board; would be a great project if you were ever considering replacing the neck anyhow;
and if you post your progress, we'll all help you along!
my 2 cents

fret pullers cost a lot less than a neck; but for one time use; ive seen people use tile nippers to pop them out; their flush headed (the blade is at the top as opose to a divit before) you open em up put them around the fret like you were gonna snip the top off, start from one edge to the other and squeeze like you were poppin a zit; the pressure forces the cutter head under the crown and pops the tang out; work slowly; 3-4 sections per fret, and if your worried about lil cracking, heat the fret up with a soldering iron first
