How long is a piece of string? Setup is a pretty personal thing really as what works for one person may feel aweful for another.

The Fender setup guide for bass i a really good starting point:
http://www.fender.com/support/basses.php

Ok, you dont have a Fender, but at the end of the day you have a bass, and the general rules of setup are pretty universal. Once you have followed the guide, have a play with your instrument. Are the strings too low and buzzing? Then raise them!

If you want to find out more the book 'How to make your electric guitar play great' is fantastic!

Message me if you want any further help.
