Set up Warwick Corvette Classic 5 String Fretless

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi Everyone,
I just bought a Warwick Corvette Classic 5 String Fretless, it seems to be the older 2003 model. At the moment the action is a little high and it has flatwounds on it, I cant seem to lower it any further without getting buzz.
All of the advice and reference's about set up I have found refer to measurements on the neck from frets, obviously its a fretless so these are of little help.
If any one has any links, guides or advice on how to set up a 5 string fretless I would be very grateful.

Thanks

Garro

Hi, here is your setup guide
http://www.google.cz/search?gcx=w&so...s+setup+manual

Click the first item for Gary Willis setup manual

I have Warwick Corvette 5 fretless too. Great bass, the low B is outstanding. Neck profile is slimmer on their fretless models than on fretted so it's great too.

I use DR Sunbeams 45 on it and love the sound, wonderful mwaah..

I would suggest you first take off the flatwounds, because they usually have higher tension and therefore might bow your neck. If you put there DR Sunbeams the action will go lower and you quite probably won't need to do any setup.
Don't worry about the deterioration of the fingerboard by rounds vs. flats. The sound is worth it and unless you play it constantly several hours a day, the ebony fingerboard will last very very long time.

Here is how the Warwick Corvette 5 sounds with DR Sunbeams:
Gamosvar - Úvod - Bandzone.cz | Kytary.cz - hlavnÃ* partner
(one of my projects..)

Cool thanks for the reply Nemo, bass sounds great in your tunes, will review that manual and check out the strings you recommended.
I agree with you on putting on flat wounds, it really is the Fretless thing.

Best of luck and thanks again
