Setting Action on Bass

Sign in to disble this ad
Can someone advise of the recommended way to set action/string height on bass....forget intonation & tuning...got that under control.....
what I am really asking is what is the recommended method to set action/string height and while maintaining even volume across the board.....all strings being even volume-wise
in other words, so that some strings aren't louder than others??
is this mainly done by adjusting string height from pickup with bridge adjustments or adjusting the pickups (not sure if all p/u's are actually adjustable)
and what method is used to determine if they are even volume-wise...do you adjust and listen...use a clip light on pre amp, or what do you suggest??
Of course I understand that actual action is down to preference...but making adjustments and maintaining equal volume is the real question.....

Kindest Thanks!!!

Go to this site and click on the series of Cruz Tools bass setup "how to" video lessons a little down the page. I followed them and they are very helpful
