Setting Up An Ibanez BTB

Sign in to disble this ad
I've read through the sticky and I've got all the info I need of the Ibanez website but I can't find any info about twin truss rods which my sons BTB405 has got. As this is my first attempt at setting up a guitar is there anything I need to be extra cautious about with two truss rods and any tips?
At the moment when the strings are held down at the first and last fret I've got double the recommended gap at the 8th fret!!

Wow high action, unless you dont know how to work with the double truss rod i would suggest you take it to someone that knows how to work with a dual truss rod like that.

twin rods meaning two?

In that case, be sure to adjust them almost equally, most people would put in more relief on the lower strings than the higher, but not much

I have a BTB...the twin rods allow you to adjust each side individually. If you don't need to tweak the low side, don't! Having worked on mine a time or two, I don't think you'll get it out of whack if you need to adjust one side a bit more than the other. That's why it's there, after all!

Thanks for the info guys. I had a go and it was a breeze. I think the secret is to do small changes on both truss rods and careful measurement then playing to check!
