| Setup for Hofner V62

I just bought a used Hofner 500/1 V62 Bass and it is completely foreign to me. Can anyone out there tell me how to raise/lower the pickups and what the Action should be set at. Miy action is at .140" Bass and .120" Treble. It seems high and I would like to lower it but then the strings would or may be too close to the pickups.
