Question Setup Question for Carvin LB75

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a Carvin LB75 that I have recently re-strung and I am working on the setup.

The old strings were Elixir mediums and I went to Thomastik-Infield Superalloy.

I did have a need to tighten the truss rod a but not too much, I'd say less than 1/4 turn.

On my E-string I notice a little bit of buzz between where I am fretting and the headstock. For example, if I am playing on the 7th fret, it will buzz a little around the 2nd or 3rd. No buzz through the amp. I don't think this is normal but is there anything I can do to fix it other than jacking up the whole string?

I also noticed I am getting less output from the E and B strings, particularly at the first few frets. Will my setup effect this?

It could be the nut slot for the E-string is cut too low.

No buzz through the amp.

Then, what's the problem?

I'd suggest a *little* more relief; if this was not a problem before, consider the only two variables, the strings, and the slightly tightened trussrod.
