I've got a CIJ Fender P bass neck with a front-bow problem... I've shimmed the truss rod nut but nothing seems to help get the neck to backbow or lay flat. I get atrociously high action off the neck. I tried clamping it in a backbow, truss rod nut removed, for over a week previously and it helped, but I've since moved and the climate is a touch different. With the neck off the bass, truss rod nut removed, it STILL has front bow.
Who should I look for in the Ann Arbor area that won't gouge me? Of course there's Herb David, but it sounds like they're wicked expensive and I don't get the friendliest vibe off one of the kids that does setups there. Who do you guys suggest I seek out? I love the feel of the neck, so I don't want to just scrap it, but if it's gonna cost more to repair than it would be to buy a used neck or custom-built, I'll just go that route.
