Shaving a Pickguard/ Touch Up Paint

Sign in to disble this ad
Ok, I have two questions.

I recently received a Geddy Lee Jazz Bass and I decided to slap a Black pickguard on it. Unfortunately, the one I received from pickguard heaven is a bit too big and needs to be shaved down around by the preamp. So, what would be the best way to shave it down?

Secondly, when I was trying to put the pickguard on I scratched the bass of the neck (which happens to have black paint on it) as well as two spots on the body. What would be the best way to touch up the scratches (they're very thin)? Is there special paint that I should use? I know a instruments are meant to show wear and that the sound will be no different, but I'd just like to take care of those two screw ups.

Thanks for your help!
