Which size threaded inserts and screws for Stingray neck?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have 2 stripped neck screw holes on my Stingray 4 neck. I'm thinking of installing stainless steel threaded inserts in all 6 screw holes. What would be the best size inserts and length screws to use? I've done searches here on TB and have seen different sizes being used (10-24, 8-32, etc) but couldn't find anyone that installed inserts specifically on a Stingray neck. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

IMO the brand of neck doesn't matter, and stainless inserts aren't mandatory...brass or other metals will work. Clean and careful installation will do the trick.

Size of the screws and inserts is really the main concern for me.

fixing the holes properly, with toothpicks slathered in aliphatic wood glue ("titebond"), and the screws cranked in while still wet, will result in holes that are every bit as strong as the unstripped holes.

(the holes in the neck, of course; the screws must still slip cleanly through the holes in the body. be sure the toothpicks and glue are only in the neck wood.)
