So I'm wet sanding through my finish...

I'm working on my J bass project and as I'm trying to wet sand the orange peel off, I'm going through the finish I just put on. I'm using 600 grit right now, should I be using something finer to start off? I haven't clear coated it yet, should I be waiting to wet sand until after clear coating?

I'd go 600, then finer still if needed to remove the orange peel. You will want a little sanding between coats as needed.
Go finer and finer as you get closer to last coat, 'polishing" it out.
Go to Reranch website for tips, very useful info.
Good luck!

I assume you are using nitro color coat and clear coats. Don't worry about the orange peel until you have finished the clear coats.

Repair the color coat, apply at least 2 cans of clear. Let that cure for 30 days, and then start the wetsanding /polishing stage.
