Some maple fretless quetions

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm thinking of using a maple board for fretless and have some questions, would love to hear what everyone thinks about maple for fretless

1. Does maple require a hard wearing finish?
2. What do you think the tone differences are?
3. Would you agree to a Geddy Lee being defretted, if so could you see any pitfalls?

Thanks guys, please add anything else you may think is relevant.

Heck yeah, takes the frets out of the Geddy. Sting has used fretless maple fingerboards. All of my fretless bass have ebony but I would like one with maple too.
