Spector Brigde adjustments

I picked up an old Kramer with Spector pickups/preamp and bridge. It needs some love and will be a great project bass. My question is does any one have any tricks to setting up the bridge? String height seems easy enough, but is there an easy way to set the intonation?

On a Spector Bridge, each saddle-piece lays on a solid bridge plate. It is suspended with two screws for the string height adjustment (that is the easy part as you said) But the only way to adjust the intonation, is to loosen two screws holding all the saddle pieces together from the sides of the bridge plate.

In other words, you will loosen two screws, one from the upper and the second from the lower side of the bridge plate. That will make all the saddles loose and movable at the same time, so while just trying to adjust one piece, you may end up moving all the others unintentionally.

Take your time. And be sure to use a good tuner when setting intonation. I would recommend one with a needle and not an LED model. When you fret the note at the 12th fret. Make sure you don't press too hard and try to use the same pressure that you normally use to play that note. If you press too hard or softer than you normally do, you will not set your intonation accurately.
