Spector Rebop5 trouble, trouble is bad.

While changing strings I discovered the tuner for the G string would lock up and not move any further so I couldn't tighten the string anymore.

No amount of turning the opposite way and trying again helps as it just locks up for no reason.

I then thought "aahhhh I'll remove the actual tuning peg and change it."

Wrong.

That iss now jammed and my hair is getting gradually more and more torn out.

I emailed spector but no response as yet, I'm just wondering, how the hell I remove the tuning peg without breaking anything.

Let me get this straight: you can neither tighten nor loosen the string? If you can get the string off, you're halfway home.

The tuner itself can be replaced by removing the threaded sleeve and washer on the front of the headstock. I'm pretty sure there's also a small screw on the back.

Replacement tuners are relatively cheap, usually no more than $25 new. Not sure, but I thought Spector used a Gotoh GB-7 style component. What color do you need? I have several used in black which I can spare. If you need chrome or gold, just put out a plea on TB's "Want to Buy" forum.

Thanks

Riis
