Squier CV 60's Jazz Bass -- Are these upgrades possible?

Woo-hoo! I'm a supporting member!

Awesome!

Okay... so here's a question for all you tech guys and gals out there...

I have a MAJOR GAS for a Fender American Vintage '62 Jazz Bass... you know... with the stacked pots... LOVE IT!!!

What I DON'T love, however, is the price tag on those suckers... YIPES!

I'm really a P-Bass player, so I don't need such a top of the line instrument.

Recently, I came across several discussions of the Squier CV 60's Jazz bass. Seems like everyone thinks it'd pretty good (for a $300 bass).

So, here's what I'm wondering...

Do you fellas suppose a '62 Jazz concentric control plate, '62 bridge, and bridge and pickup covers could be added to the CV Jazz without too much difficulty?

I'd love to know everyone's thoughts on this!

Thanks!

I've swapped aound, added, and removed all the above parts on SX's and Squire VM jazz and P's and it's not that difficult at all.

The bridges will probably be direct bolt on, no addtl. work required. The pickup cover just requires some careful placement and measurement, the control plate, depending on it's shape may need some filing to fit properly against the pickguard, and or you may just be able ot use the original control plate with the addition of any more holes for the new pot arraingemet.

Depending on your DIY skills it's not a hard job at all.

BTW I got to see a CV P bass in a local store finally and I loved it. By the end of summer I may have the whole VM- CV line, I've already got the 2 VM's

Simple swaps. The concentric plate, pots, and knobs will probably run about $75 to$100 on the aftermarket, but fits the same control cavity. If it were mine I would leave the bridge alone. The CV jazz has a heavier bridge with brass saddles which is a better piece then the '62 bridge, and a common mod in the '60s and '70s. I do have a control set that I might be talked out of, though I am not actively looking to sell it.

By the way, my avatar is my refinned '61 stack knob.
