Squier VM maple fretboard. Do I need to oil it?

I've always been told not to oil maple fretboards, but it doesn't look to me as if this board is finished. Do I need to oil it once in awhile?

Not if it's finished, which most maple is. Feel free to clean it though.

Rosewood and others get oiling because they are unfinished.

I think it just has a thin poly layer on it before it gets fret wire. You shouldn't have to oil it.

I own one and was told no. it looks unfinished but there is an actual finish on it, the feel of it is one of the things that actually attracted me to that bass. I cant remember what the finish is called though
