Stainless strings chewed my tuning posts!?!

Sign in to disble this ad
So last week I'm stringing up my Jazz with a set of Fender flats. I had been playing a set of D'Addario stainless steel roundwounds for a few months, which doesn't have the silk wrapping around the string at the end. After I de-tune the D'Addario's and unwind the strings from the posts, I noticed that these nasty grind/chew marks around all four of my posts!!

Now I've read that stainless roundwounds tend to wear on the frets more so than nickel roundwounds, but has anyone ever had this happen? It wouldn't be a bad thing to know which strings come with the silk wrappings and which ones don't so this doesn't happen again. Oh well... not the end of the world I suppose!!

Yeah the only thing i notice come off is the Nickel plating on the tuner posts come off, however I honestly dont think it will become a problem, I use the ProSteels too but it will probably be a few months before they come off.
