sterling buzzing behind fretted note

hello kind people,
i have always had fairly decent ability to set up my mm sterling with 6/64" action and minimum of fret buzz. (I string it with Ken Smith slickrounds medium guage) Recently I tried to restring(same brand/guage strings) and adjust but it's been buzzing like crazy pretty much all over the neck. While I'm aware of some of the effects trussrod tweaks will make concerning upper and lower frets...what has baffled me is some of the buzzing I'm getting now is occuring sympathetically behind the fretted note. At this point I can't tell if it's related to up or back bow, or the nut slots or both.
I should make it apparent that I'm aware that a fret dressing/pro setup could be a solution...but I'm wondering for the time being if the behind the fret buzz is a specific symptom of x, y or z.

I know setup questions are fully loaded so if you feel like offering any brief suggestions I appreciate it grately.

thanks for reading this.

Since it's buzzing all over the FB, my first thought is that the bridge saddles are just too low.

You may be getting a bit of fret wear that will no longer allow 3/32" string heigth without some buzz. It requires a very stable and well set up bass without fret wear to get away with the action that low.

Sometimes a magnifying glass along with a good light will point out fret wear that's pretty hard to see.

You might try just raising the saddles untill the buzz clears up, and then measure and see how much higher than 3/32" you have to go. May be less than you think.

Good luck.

i have owned about three basses in which this has been apparent. in my experience, neck relief has the greatest effect on this. the basses i owned would buzz from the fifth fret back to the nut, when fretting the sixth on the low e string. (try giving the rod an eighth turn, that can clear up the buzzes behind the note) the nut height does have an effect on this too! i dont set the nut height on my basses really low anymore because of this.
