Cool Stewart MacDonald neck

Sign in to disble this ad
just ordered a neck from stewart macdonald

anyone have input on what i can expect?

i ordered from them because the neck pocket specs claim the neck depth is 5/8" which is what my warmoth jazz body is.
saw some mighty mite necks on ebay for a lot less
but they didn't have the depth listed or listed it as 1"

hoping for the extra money stew-mac's depth spec are correct and maybe there's more quality control.
i know warmoth neck necks start at 180 but finish is another $70

guess what.. doesn't fit

got the neck last night and guess what
despite what stew mac websites says the heel of the neck they sent me doesnt fit the neck pocket of my warmoth body
body has no finish and neck finish is very light so thats not it
thought about lightly sanding the neck heel but at a $135 for the neck i don't want to and i'd have a little ways to go
plus neck heel is thicker than 5/8th
in fact the $40 sx neck i bought a year ago and never used is the same depth as the neck stewmac sent me for $135
uughhh!!!

neck

The Allparts stuff is pretty hit or miss in my experience. You can usually get used Fender MIM stuff for right around $100 with hardware/nut etc. Always fits.

so my $135 stew-mac/mighty mite neck is too wide for my my $200 warmoth body but my laquered all to hell $40 sx neck fits perfectly in the neck pocket of the warmoth (sits a little high, not 5/8th as advertised on stew-mac) and the mighty might is a perfect fit in the sx p bass body........
