Strange Buzz on new OLP

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi guys, I've been trying to set-up my new OLP MM3 because when it home there was too much relief in the neck and the action was terribly high.

I've tightened the truss rod 1/4 of a turn twice and it has pulled a little of the relief out but I still can't get the action any lower without terrible buzz when you fret the 7th or 9th frets. the D and G strings seem to buzz less than the others, could this be a high fret at the 8th and 10th fret? or I'm I just not setting this thing up right?

I got disconnected half way through writing this and while waiting for my connection to be restored I check the frets using the method in BassPlayer magazine. These two frets were a little high and I flied them back just a touch and now my action can go a little lower. When I have more time I'll sit down and level the frets properly and get it sweet

Thanks for your help

Check your bridge. I dont know if yours is adjustable like the ones on the basses I've worked on or not, but where the string comes in contact with the bridge, there should be small screws or something that you can adjust to move the action up or down.
