Strange fret buzz situation.

So my Epi Tbird buzzes on the D at the tenth and on the G at the 13th. Not so strange, but my '75 Gibby G-3 that I just put a new bridge on and am setting up buzzes at the same locations! Neither bass buzzes anywhere else. Action is high enough for me, would like it a little lower though. Both have a touch of relief and are angle shimmed so that the saddles aren't slammed down otherwise couldn't get the action decent. Should I flat shim them to raise the necks?

You could, but why do you think that will have anything to do with a couple of buzzing frets?

Dunno, Just weird that both basses buzz at the same frets and they're shimmed on an angle. if they were shimmed flat, the break angle of the string from fret to saddle would be higher.? Then I might be able to drop the action a little more?

More of a "what would you try" problem. Thanks for answering... what would you try?

It's a fret issue. Consider investing in a level/recrown/setup, and your basses will play better than you ever thought they could. Players who's instruments I've worked on, regularly tell me this.

That's kinda where i thought I needed to be, wish I was in Bay area I'd come see you. Here in the Canadian prairies luthiers are hard to find.
