strap button on 62 jazz RI

Sign in to disble this ad
I recently purchased a 62 Jazz RI and the strap button behind the bridge seems to be coming loose. I tried to tighten it, but I think I might have made it worse.

When I wiggle it slightly, it seems to seperate from the body too much. It seems as its secure, but still it concerns me when wearing a strap.

Does anyone have any suggestions or thoughts on what I should do before it gets any worse? I'm open to any comments or suggestions.

take it out, fill the hole with toothpicks and glue, wait, screw back in the screw

seems like i got it fixed. i just gently removed the screw and
retightened it while holding the strap button. that seemed to do the trick.

I would still recommend refilling the hole with toothpicks and woodglue. If it did it once, it'll yank out again soon.
