Strap button on neck plate

Sign in to disble this ad
Does anyone know how to track down one of those combination strap button/neck screw things that are sometimes found on SG or other Gibson-style basses (see photo)? Or how to put something like that together? Aren't strap button screws usually smaller in diameter than neck screws, so a standard neck screw wouldn't fit through a strap button? Any help would be appreciated...

I do that in my basses, I've improved the balance of both my jazzbasses... I do it in the upper-outer neckplate screw to imrpove balance... and it works!

by the way, on both my basses what i did is:

1- unscrew the screw i wanted to put the strapbutton on
2- replace it by one of the same size, jsut slighty longer to compensate for the strapbutton
2- screw it back in...

i found out the size its fine, at least in fender and fenderesque basses, i just replace it in order to penetrate the neck wood in the same amount the old screw was...

Am i explaining myself properly?
