Strap Lock on Ricky 4003

A bit mundane and apologies if this is covered somewhere, but I can't find it....

Basically the standard fitted strap lock on my Ricky Bass has come loose and the strap keeps coming off (happened on-stage at the start of the set the other day!)...What I can't figure out is how it's actually captivated in the body of the guitar, It's not a self-tapping screw, It's a threded bolt/stud and so doesn't bite into the wood, equally, you cant get to the back of it to spin a nut on the end, once its fitted into the hole in the wood...I can't figure out if a component is missing or what the deal is at all?...

I posted this on bassworld with pics...*Here*
