I don't want to remove the strap pins on any of my basses, so the option of most strap lock systems are out. Years ago, I remember a guitard teacher of mine used to have these plastic disks that went over the strap while it was on the strap pins and it would secure the strap to the pins without any modification. They weren't pretty, but neither am I. I just don't want to enlarge the screw holes by installing something on my basses.
Does anyone have any other ideas? By the way, I refuse to use duct tape also. Thanks.

Can anyone attach a quick photo illustrating this? I mean, I'll buy a six pack regardless if this works or not. And hell, if Pino's doing it then I'm in.
Remember when the white cap on the Grolsch bottles was made out of porcelain instead of plastic? Remember what those were used for?

Here's a story as to why I won't use the usual Schaller type of strap locks: I was playing a guitard gig years ago with my main band at the nicest club in Providence, RI. It was a big night for us because the local TV station had a crew there to film us and use the footage during the end credits of their news program. As I was setting up on stage, I saw a small metal washer on the stage and figured some poor soul had lost part of his strap lock. Not thinking anything of it we started playing and towards the end of the first song my guitard falls out of my hands and lands on the stage. 62 reissue MIA Strat with a huge black dent on the bottom. I played the rest of the song on the floor with my guitard on my knee. Needless to say the news crew packed up and moved to the club connected to the one we were playing in and filmed another band. Call me superstitious, but I don't trust strap locks after that.

Does anyone have any other ideas? By the way, I refuse to use duct tape also. Thanks. | Those plastic disks are made by Dunlop. A music shop near me sells them for $1.50 a piece, so they're pretty cheap, and I used to use them. At the same time, they broke really fast.
The Dimarzio Cliplock straps I have come with two sizes of screws. One are the same exact size that were with my strap buttons, and the other size were bigger for a better "grip" or if your holes were drilled out.
You don't have to drill holes for straplocks. But if you're so hesitant, PM and I'll see if I can get those Dunlop pieces for ya.
But, I highly recommend a cliplock strap.

Dimarzio Cliplock Straps are BY FAR the most dependable and reliable straplock system on the market. I've thrown my bass around and abused it as far as strap retention goes, and it hasn't flinched one. You've gotta get them, believe me.

By the way, Jim, cool name.

The only thing I don't like about them is they don't have anything wider than an inch and a half. It would have been great if they had something two-inches or more for basses. But then again, when the P-bass and J-bass first came out the only straps available were the half-inch leather ones, and that didn't stop the Motown cats from breaking out gut-busting bass chops. If you could live if a guitar width strap then it's an option worth pursuing. |

I will try the Grolsch method first only because it comes with free beer.
