Question A string comes out of the nut?!

Last night i was playing a gig, and when was playing and the A string felt really high and strange, i had a look at it mid set and it come out of the nut at the top and was rest on the nut but not in the groove :S i have another gig tonight would be cool if i could get it sorted by tonight.

Any ideas what it might be??

sounds like you were just digging in with your fingers while playing or you just got distracted when you were tuning. All you need to do is loosen the string, pop it back in and re-tune

you could also try another string tree on the E and A string to help keep it in line.

not exactly a quick fix but its the best permanent one.

i fixed it, the bridge was set up to high so ive just adjusted that and its fine now ready for tonight
