String nut for 1975 Musicmaster bass

Does anyone know where to get a fender musicmaster bass string nut? I am restoring an old 75 music master. I am great with wiring, intonation trust rod adjustment, but i have never dealt with string nuts on a short scale bass. any advise would be much appreciated. i know can obviously figure out the dimensions by measuring but i cannot find the size i need anywere online. Thanks

GO to Stew-Mac online, buy matching size nut material, shape as needed. Perhaps a couple of hours work. http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Nuts,_saddles.html

They carry multiple widths - if you have to, buy material that's a bit too wide and sand it to fit the width of the nut slot. There is plenty of info on sanding and making nuts here if you search.

BTW...there is no "trust" rod, it's a truss rod.

g and l? G and L???? . . . .

G & L!?!?!?

Isn't that a company Mr. Fender & Mr. Fullerton founded after Leo sold Fender, Musicman and CLF IIRC?

G&L stands for George and Leo.

The info I can dig up on the musicmaster is thus:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fender_Musicmaster_Bass
http://www.fender.com/community/foru...p?f=11&t=71042
http://www.notreble.com/buzz/2011/11...icmaster-bass/

The closest thing to an answer to "What did the Fender Musicmaster bass turn into in the early 80s" is what notreble said: "Fender’s line of budget instruments was discontinued in 1981, when the company introduced the Squier brand. Squier reintroduced the Musicmaster briefly in 1997, replacing it a year later with the Bronco bass." (from above link).
The author doesn't give sources but it sounds plausible. If you want to know for sure ask at fender or check around

Actually, the Fender Mustang and Musicmaster, student models both, were both discontinued and replaced with the Bullet - not a selection on this survey list, but as a Fender collector and history buff, this is the way I understand it. I have all three. My 68 Mustang is a great tool, the Bullet is nice, the Musicmaster not so much.

The music master was re-introduced in the late 90's and was part of the Squier series. My First bass was a Fender Music Master. The primary problem was the pickup, it had the same pickup a fender Stratocaster had, except the poles were not exposed. I had one strung/tuned as a piccolo bass in the mid 1990's, it was fun but I am 6'5" and wanted something else.
