String pitch bends when digging in?

I already had the action pretty high before I changed strings, but these new ones seem to bend in pitch when I even slightly dig in. Do I have to raise the action even more? Or does it need to be lower?

I don't mind fret buzz, as long as it isn't apparent once through an amp.

Using the same gauge the guitar came with stock.
45. - 105.

Yup. Lower to reduce the amount of string deflection - which is causing the pitch to change.
