| String spacing on Kahler Tremolo Bridge!

I`ve had a 5 string Yamaha TRB for ages, it came with a Custom Bridge which is a Kahler tremelo, reverse saddle.
The strings are pretty close together, its a pain to play slap and pop technique, I enjoy the tone of the bass but Its a serious inconvenience for live gigs with my pop and slap stuff...
Even with a pro setup to get them spaced out as possible, its still not enough...
Help, Suggestions? have you experienced this problem before?
