Cool Strings not aligned with pole pieces ¬.¬

I have a really cheapo jazz bass copy, a cruiser i believe, and id really like to start acutally using it, but the strings are well out of line with the pole pieces (strings are meant to go between the 2 pole pieces.

Re-routing the body isnt an option, as my dad would go nuts.

So i was thinknig of getting a new bridge and file in new grooves, so the line up with the pole pieces

Good idea, or not ?

I've built a bass from rough lumber club #2 (I'm pretty sure).

Aesthetically it can be annoying, but realistically and sonically it's not a huge deal.

it's not a big deal, but here's two threads with good info about what to do.

the upshot is that threaded-rod saddles will let you adjust string spacing to line up between the magnet poles, and that doing so is a subtle, not dramatic, improvement.

How does it sound? If the strings are balanced, you're making a problem, where there is none.
