stripped screw help!!!

Sign in to disble this ad
i have a mesa 4 space shock case. trying to remove the head has been a bit of a pain due to my guitar player stripping all the screws while putting it in.

i was able to drill one out until the screw head popped off and then just unscrewed the shaft of the screw.

two more to go. i've killed 4 drill bits, i don't know what to do anymore!

If you are very very careful, and I do stress careful, you can use a small dremel with a thin cut off wheel and cut a small slot on the top of the screw head and then use a flat screwdriver to back it out. I have had to do this on screws before. And as long as you are careful to only cut the screw head, it works pretty good. Hope this helps. Also mask off anything you don't want sparks to hit.

There are cheaper sets out there, but something like these should do the trick...

right after i posted this i went right back into things with a bigger bit.

as soon as i popped the one off, the other popped off too!

4 bits, 2 easy outs, one busted knuckle, and a lot of pieces of screws everywhere.

i would have used a dremel tool and done that exact thing if i had one. i think that will be on the xmas list.

They sure can come in handy sometimes. Glad to hear everything worked out or came out I should say.
