Stripped Truss Rod

Sign in to disble this ad
I bought an Ibanez BTB 405QM from the Atlanta Bass Gallery in April. I found the action a bit high for my taste, so I went to adjust the truss rod to straighten out the neck. Much to my surprise I found 2 truss rods. If you were looking down at the truss rods, the rod on the right (by the B and E) had the nut totally stripped. I adjusted the left rod, hoping that it would at least adjust the action of the higher strings where I would be soloing, but of course the stripped rod kept the neck from changing. I'm planning on taking this bass up to the Atlanta Bass Gallery for a set-up this week, but will they have to replace the whole truss rod, or is there a way to just change the nut?
